HOLIDAY COURSES: FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS!

How does it work?

Your child will learn dance routines, songs and drama from experienced professionals across the week. They’ll get to learn something new, make friends, build confidence and have lots of fun! The course will finish with a performance for friends and family on the last day.

What will they do each day?

We start with a group warm up and games where everyone can get to know each other before the group separate into their individual levels to do workshops in drama, dance and singing. On the last day we do a big group rehearsal before performing for you.

Here is an example timetable of how we structure our courses, this is just an example and each course will vary.

Can my child be with their friend or sibling?

We divide our groups based on age, so if they are close in age they are likely be in the same group. We can’t make any guarantees but if your child would like to be with another student let us know as early as you can and we’ll try our best.

My child is feeling nervous

If your child is feeling nervous or shy, a member of staff can come and talk with them one to one to help them settle, but we might ask that you wait with them while we get the other students registered first.

What does my child need to bring?

Everyone will get a lunch break, as well as a shorter morning and afternoon break so be sure to pack lunch, drinks and plenty of snacks, it’s hungry work! Please make sure not to pack fizzy drinks, chewing gum or anything containing nuts.

Make sure to pack a water bottle, sunscreen and a sun hat if it’s hot weather, we can fill up water bottles on site through the day if needed. We also encourage everyone to bring colouring pencils or pens for various activities.

What should my child wear?

Students should wear clothes that are comfortable and allow free movement, like tracksuit bottoms or leggings and a t-shirt and make sure that shorts or leggings are worn under any skirts and dresses.

Sensible shoes are really important so that your child can take part safely, that means no bare feet, sandals, crocs, wellies or flippers!

Can I come and see the performance?

Yes please! At the end of the course, you are invited to see the children perform the show that  they have been working on.

We’ll email optional costume suggestions if your child would like to dress up, this is normally a colour or style suggestion so please don’t feel any pressure to buy or spend lots of time making anything.

Tell me about your staff

Our teachers are industry professionals in dance, drama and singing. All our staff are enhanced DBS checked and there is at least one members of staff on site who is first aid, safeguarding and youth mental health first aid trained at all times.

What if my child needs to miss some of the course?

Where possible, it’s important that your child attends every day to get the most from the course. If they need to arrive late or leave early for an appointment just let us know in advance. Sometimes students join us and when they cannot attend for a day or two, if they are a younger student and the day is near the beginning of the week they can often catch up. If you’re not sure then get in touch and we can advise you.

We unfortunately can’t offer discounts for partial attendance as we have limited capacity and would need to hold their space for the full course.

What does reduced rate mean?

This is our rate for families on low income, as a charity we help people access our courses and classes regardless of their financial situation. You can check to see if you are eligible here.

How can I pay with tax free childcare or childcare vouchers?

When adding a course to your basket select ‘yes’ to the question ‘paying with childcare vouchers?’.

This will allow you to pay a small non-refundable deposit and select your provider when you checkout to secure your place.

We’ll then be in touch with details on how to pay with your provider so that you can pay the remaining balance (you can also pay the full balance if you’d like us to refund your deposit).
