How we can change lives together

How you can help

The Challenge We Face

Lewisham has been classified as one of the most deprived boroughs in the UK.

27% of children under 19 live in households with no adult in employment.

On average 33% of Montage attendees each year are from low-income families. Currently 55% of participants are black or minority-ethnic in a borough where 35% of the population is BAME.

As arts provision in schools is slashed, our goal is to give all children and families across Lewisham, regardless of social or financial background, access to affordable/free classes in drama, dance and singing. We provide a safe space where children can explore their creativity, build confidence and make new friends while acquiring lifelong skills that will enhance whatever career paths they choose.

Our Goals

To fund our yearly Bursary and Concession Programme which allows a total of 438 children and young people who wouldn’t otherwise be able to attend, to join our community, build confidence, have fun and make new friends while learning lifelong skills. Total Annual Cost: £45,778.

Concessions: Current take-up is 305 concession places across all classes and our goal is to fund a further 81 raising the total target to 386 annually. Annual cost: £34,828

Bursaries: We currently provide 10 bursaries to our Saturday School and a further 42 across all Holiday Programmes. Annual cost: £10,950

Playing our Part

Online fund-raising: we participate in two online match-funding campaigns per year, supported by The Childhood Trust, which raise approximately £18,000.

Trusts and foundations: we apply regularly to grant making bodies – on average a minimum of 10 bids per year

Statutory Funding: Lewisham gives us a grant, some of which goes towards funding these places, however this has recently been cut by 15%.

Playing Your Part

£1,200 funds just under two bursaries (Platinum Community Champion)

£660 funds two yearly bursaries (Gold Community Champion)

£220 funds a term’s bursary to our Saturday School (Bespoke package)
