Montage Theatre Arts presents “Heroes Together”

The rain falls. Falls and falls. The flood comes and all is swept away. But there are survivors and the Red Cross soldiers come. Together they rebuild their lives and a new community of heroes is made. Heroes Together has been devised and created with 30 young dancers aged 6 – 16 years combining tap and street jazz in an excitingly powerful piece honouring the British Red Cross’ work.

Groups taking part: Tuesday Tap and Friday Street Jazz Group.  Approx 32 MTA performers.

Our area final was on June 25th at The Albany.  MTA won best group dynamic and bronze fundraising awards and we are extremely proud of the hard work and commitment of both dance groups, teachers and volunteers.

Dance for Life brings together primary, secondary and special schools, colleges, dance groups and youth groups in a celebration of youth dance.  Groups of all abilities choreograph a dance routine that reflects an aspect of the Red Cross’ work. The groups then come together to perform at Dance for life events across the country.

” A huge thank you to you and Montage Theatre Arts Street Jazz for taking part in the dance for life event at the Albany Theatre on 25 June 2011. It simply would not have been possible without you and I hope you and your group had an enjoyable day. Your performance was fantastic.”

Oliver Morgan, Dance for life project manager

MTA decided to enter our dance groups to offer them professional performance opportunities and to encourage young people in the area to join our fantastic groups and work towards local and London-wide events

Cinder’s Crew!

Cinder’s Crew is an eclectic blend of contemporary and traditional dance styles that brings a new and exciting dimension to this classic fairytale. Young love, sibling jealousy and poor time-keeping all feature in this wonderfully energetic performance as the crew tries to uncover the mystery owner of that trendy trainer!

Our Street Jazz dancers took to the floor, opening London Youth Dance’s celebration of dance at the Ballroom, Royal Festival Hall.  They were fantastic – huge energy and an exciting mix of ballet and street dance. Proud of you!

CONGRATULATIONS to all of Level 3 who danced at Sadler’s Wells on Wednesday in ‘Rumble’. The number ‘Hairspray’ was fabulous, costumes were fantastic and the whole evening was great fun. Thank you to all the parents who helped all along the way too – again we couldn’t have done without you. Another night to remember!! Best wishes, Judy and Leigh.
