Rhythm of Life
Journeying. It’s Grandpa’s 80th birthday and invitations have to be sent. With his grandchildren by his side, he recalls the friendships made as he travelled the world, continent to continent, through his life. Tales are told, memories rekindled and the delight of new and old friendships celebrate what it is to travel in a foreign land.
Over 100 people, aged 6 – 96 years old, have devised this joyous multi-lingual show written from their own adventures dancing, singing and acting together with live webcam and video projection.

Conceived and directed by Artistic Director Judy Gordon.
” Rhythm of Life is probably the largest and most exciting project Montage has done to date. Montage is about the community and this show reflects this in every sense of the word. Right from the start last September, 80 young people from 6 to 16 years have been devising and creating every week with our Grandad, Kurban Haji and a group of wonderful older people from the Elder People’s Support Project’s Supertroupers joined in performance with those from a local residential home in New Cross. The company is so diverse that there are at least 10 languages being spoken, songs and dances from round the world. The talent and sheer commitment of these performers of all ages (up to 98 years!) has created a truly unique show. I feel privileged to be working with these 120 performers, Montage teachers and volunteers, and managers of the partner groups who are all inspirational in their trust and support of each other, whatever their age, ability and the role they play in the project. The young people are so excited – this is the first time that they will perform together on such a large, professional theatre as The Albany. We’re hoping that people come from all over Lewisham to watch this show and be part of this an unforgettable community celebration!” Judy Gordon
