“The bus has not come. The bus has not come for three days. I woke up this morning and the bus had not come. So I walked. I walked the streets and there was no Sainsbury’s, no 171, no library. Had someone taken them in the night? Run off with my Nectar card, my Library card, my Freedom Pass. Had someone taken my Lewisham?”

Directed by Montage’s Artistic Director Judy Gordon and led by award-winning local playwright Evan Placey, Re:Generation follows an elderly Margaret who reflects on her life in Lewisham through the war and the following decades with key events in Lewisham’s history that affected the whole community.

The play brings together a moving tale written in an original script based on the performers’ individual histories and their own family’s migrations, painting a picture of the diverse cultural and ethnic backgrounds that make up the creative and vibrant diaspora of Lewisham today!

One mother’s comments after seeing the show:
“Reinforced knowledge gained from my Grandmother who has lived in Lewisham all her life, she is now 92!”
