Artist Residency

‘Art on the Net’; A six-month Artist Residency at Swadelands School, Maidstone for Lighthouse with University of Brighton: funded by the Arts Council of England.

Residency includes devising and leading a Digital Art in Education project in a Rural Secondary School for Year 10. Work was included for 40 Year 10 Art and Drama students as part of their GCSEs.

An exhibition of this work was held at the Brighton University Gallery ‘4C’ , July 18th to July 29th 2000.

Judy Gordon and David Barnett of Montage Theatre Arts led this research and performance residency, run by Lighthouse and the University of Brighton, as part of a six-month programme collaborating with three other artists in three other secondary schools in south-east England from February to July 1999. Based at a local rural school near Maidstone, Kent, the Swadeland residency with Montage Theatre took place over two terms and led to a final performance, devising individual live digital art projects with performance to 40, Year 10 pupils with varying skills and educational needs.
