Bernadette graduated in 2008 from the prestigious Central School of Speech and Drama with a BA Honours Degree in Acting and Music Theatre. Prior to this she trained for a year at East 15 Acting school on their Foundation Acting Course. During her training Bernadette worked with such names as David de’Keyser and Sara Kestleman as well as a host of other industry professionals.
Bernadette’s acting experience dates back to childhood where she was a member of youth theatre’s such as the Bristol Old Vic Youth Theatre, The Bristol School of Performing Arts and ITV West Drama Workshop. She also studied dance from a young age and is a trained singer. She has been a member of the Bristol Cathedral Choir as well as the The South London community Choir. Bernadette has been in professional productions at the Bristol Old Vic, The Bristol Hippodrome and The Redgrave Theatre. Whilst training at Central, Bernadette acted in a variety of shows including Company, Hamlet, Much Ado about Nothing, Road, The importance of being Ernest, Alan Ayckbourne’s Confusions as well as various devised works. Bernadette has also taken part in the Talawa Young Peoples Theatre Summer School and performed at The Lilian Baylis Theatre in Angel.
Since leaving Central, Bernadette has worked as a mentor and teacher at the very popular summer schools held at The Central School of Speech and Drama, which included community theatre workshops as well as assisting to coach audition technique and public speaking. She is also a drama tutor for Shooting Roots Theatre and teaches yearly at various folk festivals around the country. Bernadette’s most recent professional acting works include a run in the West End’s Theatre Delicatessen where she played ‘The wife of Bath’ in Chaucers ‘The Canterbury Tales’. As well as her work for Montage Theatre Arts, Bernadette also works as a TA in a Primary School in East London.
Bernadette thoroughly enjoys teaching young people drama and is passionate about helping to guide them on their own creative paths.
